Day 1: Stavanger-Uthlið

posted in: Agenda | 0

Today, Neil and Gunnar left Stavanger, Norway, with Mike Herbert (CEO Dreki Adventures).

Together they took the early SAS flight to Oslo, to connect with the international SAS flight to Reykjavík (Keflavík International Airport), Iceland.

Once at Keflavík International Airport, we collected Mike’s 6×6 Arctic Trucks, which had been previously delivered to the airport.

We then visited the 66 Deg North outlet shop in Garðabær, to review options for company logo outdoor clothing.

Later, we visited the Dreki Adventures Garage / Lock-up in Mosfellsbær, where the vehicles are placed in storage when not out in the field.

Once we had done all the food shopping needed for our stay, we eat a quick Dominio Pizza.
The 6×6 looked really massive compared to the small pizza delivery car parked next to it….

We then drove to the hytte at Uthlið, where we will be spending the next 3 days here.

At this time of year, there are only ca.4.5 hours of daylight per day, with Sunrise at ca.11:00 and Sunset at ca.15:30.
Therefore, we will have to learn how to use this short “light window” to its best advantage, during our short visit here.

Weather permitting, we hope to do a lot of exciting driving tomorrow………..
