During our 5 weeks touring around Iceland, we will be camping most of the time, at registered / official campsites (Private / Community / National Parks, etc.).
On those few occasions when we are not camping, we will be staying in hytte / cabins.
We will certainly NOT be Glamping.
Glamping is a portmanteau of glamour & camping, and describes a style of camping with amenities and, in some cases, resort-style services not usually associated with “traditional” camping.
Glamping has become particularly popular with 21st century tourists, seeking the luxuries of hotel accommodation, alongside the escapism and adventure recreation of camping.
During ICE2015, we found that camping sites around Iceland, were in general, reasonable priced and well organised.
Most of the time, we camped directly besides our Expedition Vehicles, allowing us easy access to equipment and Supplies.
Even when the weather was bad outside, and we had to cook inside the tent, we managed very well, and made it work.
We even managed to conduct a number of running-repairs within the tent.
And we always found ways to get comfortable and relax.
Here, Dina is enjoying drawing an Icelandic Horse on the tablet.
We certainly will be Camping, with no Glamping involved at any time……
